Slade, do you have any plans for a Vancouver signing?

Mbwun,

Very few. ARCs are for "long leads": media, such as monthy magazines, that can't react quickly. Most media get the final copy a few weeks before the publication date.

John,

I will, but not yet. I'm in the midst of promotion interviews. After that, I'll sign books. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the heads up mbwun, and for posting this Slade.

Come Sunday night, it will be mine!

Slade - do you know if there is a proof like this of Crucified? I've only ever seen "review copies" - the finished product with a publicity letter.

Picked up my new Red Snow proof today and noticed something interesting on the title page....

The bullet-cross symbol from Crucified. Weird huh?

Also, turns out that the guy selling it has a local magazine full of book reviews; heres the write up on Red Snow:

e taylor,

The crossed bullets symbol is called a "motif." To set RED SNOW in print, the text was dropped into the CRUCIFIED mold. At that point, ARCS were run off.

The RED SNOW motif was to be a biohazard symbol, but better yet, the blood drip picked up the cover image.

It's all a production process, step by step by step...

Very interesting, makes sense when you think about it.

And I very much agree, the drip of blood is nice and simple, but effective.

Mbwun,

But he'll send it to Dead Write and get it signed by Slade, and before long that rarity will be worth much more than that.

Supply and demand.

And I am only mildly sorry I made you pay that much. I thought it might be you and I actually felt guilty about putting in higher than that. So Congrats for you and I'll need to keep looking :-(

Oh yes, no hard feelings at all. I had a bid in of $175 - much more than I wanted to pay, and likely much more than it is currently "worth" (relative anyways), but ARCs don't pop up very often, and when they do I pull the trigger.

Bingo! Although I'm holding off on sending ARCs - I'll probably bring them to Bloody Words 2011 though!

Not that value of my Slade books is a huge deal to me anyways - I'd never sell them - but its nice to look at them as capital I suppose.
