Might be one of the safest career paths at the moment..

Government and military...

And now as I usually do....

TRACK CHANGE...
What fast food outlets are there in Victoria, or have you guys beaten back MCDonald's, KFC et al...

Somebody said about IHOP? Dunkin' donuts?

I would imagine they've got all manner of fast food joints in Victoria. But I doubt they've got Dunkin' Donuts. You want doughnuts, go to Tim Hortons. Or better yet, find a small mom-and-pop bakery and get some there - I'm not really a big fan of Tim Hortons doughnuts.

Since you seem to be a big fan of chocolate, I'd recommend a trip to the Rogers' Chocolates outlet in Victoria.

Never been to DD, but it looks roughly the same as a Hortons..

We have bakers, and coffers shops, and fast food in Britain, but nothing that sells everything..

WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO DUNKIN' DONUTS?!!!
Where will I get coffee if there is no Dunkin' Donuts? I cannot survive without coffee. Nor would you want to anywhere near me ... it's ugly.
OH GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Not Starbucks ... anything but Starbucks ....
Friends Don't Let Friends Drink Starbucks

Starbucks??? . . .

Postby Judy » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:25 pm

Ah yes . . . in my younger days when I drank coffee . . I tried their coffee and discovered that it's the only kind that gave me acute indigestion. Usually I bought my own beans and ground my own. Now that I'm oh so close to retirement . . . I prefer tea . . . an indulgence I don't plan to ever give up . . . I have several online sellers that I have been ordering from since 2000.

I hope you all have a fantastic time playing in Victoria . . . I will be retiring just about then . . . and will find myself living on a fixed income . . . so being able to attend just isn't in my budget. Just remember to take plenty of pictures and post them so I can enjoy what I missed!!!

when you come to Canada you will be introduced to our very addictive drug of choice and likely will be converted into our own masked religion called TIM HORTON'S! Its part of our heritage that's how addictive it is :P

Tim Horton's is Johnny-come-lately. 1964! An Eastern chain? Come on. Gimme a break!

You're coming West, pardners, to B.C., and that means ya gotta hit The Spot. Here, click through the various years for the history, starting in 1928.

http://www.whitespot.com/history.htm

When Slade was a teen, every party, every dance, every date somehow included a stop at The Spot, where you'd find all your friends.

Slade's favorite memory is stopping at The Spot after a Gangsters party. He was dressed as Frank Nitti, the Enforcer for the Mob, complete with a plastic Thompson submachine gun.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Nitti

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thompson_submachine_gun

His best friend, Bob, had a '49 Chevy with running boards, so Slade swung out the door onto the side platform and cut loose with the gat. Teens were tumbling out of cars with ketchup blood on their faces, until the cops on a break in the last parking stall screeched out to block the drive-in's exit and came out with guns drawn!

Ummm, I don't think he said he was buying the first round ...
In fact I read that twice, no, three times and I don't think he said that.

So Mr Slade, this 'Spot' they make a decent cup of joe? Is it walking distance from my hotel?

I guess that depends on where your hotel is, doesn't it?

They need to hold one of these conventiony-type events here in Langley. We've got a hotel and convention centre here, and it's attached to a casino.

Then I could direct you to The Wired Monk - a pretty decent coffee shop with great coffee. And we've got several White Spots here.

Slade at Conference

Postby chaos-consultants » Tue Oct 18, 2011 2:31 am

Hi everyone. So the Surrey Writer's conference is this Friday-Sunday. Are there going to be any Sladists there?

Slade, are you and the usual suspects going to be at the Chapters on Thursday night at Strawberry Hill?? If so what time.

See you then
John
