Well, ya know sparky24, the guys all seem to have the hots for Seven of Nine. ;) But I think Jeri Ryan is a bit old to play Spann, dt. Isn't Katherine supposed to be somewhere in her mid 20s? Ryan might look great for her age, but I don't think she could pull off someone in their 20s anymore.

Remember, Spann is an Amazon. She's in her mid-20s and about 6 feet tall. Think Daryl Hannah when she was young (she's now 50). Hannah in BLADE RUNNER.

It's too bad that Saffron Burrows is too old for the part now. I think she'd have been perfect for it about 10-15 years ago. Plus, from what I understand, she wouldn't exactly have to fake the lesbianish stuff.

The way I see it, it's almost impossible to find a very tall actress in the right age range these days. Most of the very tall ones are too old now.

Apparently, the average height for well-known actresses is about 5' 2 1/2". I guess this is so they can fit into sample sizes, and don't tower over their leading men. A lot of actors tend to be kind of shrimp-toasty. And they lie about their height all the time.

And as I've stated, tall people are really the only ones that look right in the Red Serge dress uniform. Those billowy-thighed jodhpurs, stuffed into knee high leather boots, just look silly on a short person.

Anna Torv is 5'9" and 31 (or 32). She's not that far off.

Anna Torv

Seems to me the problem with this exercise is that we are picking actors we'd like to see NOW, but with production times, delays, what-have-you, perhaps we should be picking teen actors who would fit the part later.

Jenette McCurdy seems to fit that bill... Or will in a few years. She's 18 right now.

Jenette McCurdy

Don't know how tall she is though.

According to IMDb's information, she's 5'3".

This Dutch actress looks tall, but I don't know how tall. Or how adept she is at speaking English.

I think she's too slight of build. I couldn't buy her doing all the things the part requires.

Physically most actresses try and achieve an anorexic, heroin addict physique. And then wonder why they get typecast.

I still say a late teen or early 20ish actress is the way to go...

Miriam McDonald from the new Degrassi is 5' 8" and doesn't look like she's malnourished.

I think to stop all this , I am just going to have to play Spann

I don't think 6 feet and mid-20s are essential, but Spann must be "tall," "athletic-looking," and relatively "young."

5 foot 9 and 30 would be okay.
