Clearly PohlSE improved it in several ways. So it's a collaborative wallpaper. By the way, "Not Crazy" is my favorite PohlSE offering so far. Looking back through them all, I'm also partial to TBL's red serge on white, steelclaw's GHOUL holo-skull with ransom letters, and krista's blue collage.

"It's a little strange, I admit. It was made using a set of brushes called "Not Crazy." What do you think? "

It's good. It reminds me of the opening credit sequence of Se7en!

PoulSE,

This thread has taken Special X into new territory. What I plan to do - as soon as Eric's move to a new home is done - is post "An Interview with Michael Slade about SWASTIKA" at the Slade Web site, and illustrate my answers to the questions with interspersed images from this thread. To that end, it would be helpful to me if you would gather all of your "wallpapers" into a list in one post: just the final versions. Roaming through an explosion of 15 pages (but keep them coming!) to find what I need at any given moment is beginning to drive me "crazy."

And we don't want that, do we?

I've checked all the urls and they all seem to work, so I've saved them all into a Word file so it will be easier next time.

Good work to everyone! These are fantastic, and I hope we all keep coming up with ideas!

This one is a little non-sequiter, but I was experimenting with making weathered parchment and I couldn't see myself just throwing it away:

Off topic, but I liked the way it came out.

It's "non-sequitur" you doofus!!!

I can get the wallpapers right, now I just have to work on my spelling!!! :( :( :( :(

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it! I've got two more ideas I'm working on and believe it or not, they are actually related to the books again! :)

PohlSE, old man I really did like it very much, now S T O P knocking your self out over your spelling, EVER since my 2 nd stroke, and truly It really nearly killed me in everyway sense of the meaning of the word, KILLED me, I was told that that it was nothing short of a bloody miracle, TRULY, I WANTED to die and join my beloved Helen. My late wife.

When I came through, I found that I couldn't spell for shite, NEVER was that with me ever, now I use webster.com, to write here on the site, I can see clearly the words in my minds eye, but when I start to write, rubbish and what not spews forth!!!  .

So, don't feel crapy... You're OK!

And I have trouble with... THEN and THAN , never mind my bloody godawful things like... , or ' or ; to name just a few!

just smile that's all, I do...Like so...! :D :D :D :D :D

So, don't feel crapy... You're OK!

Thank you. I was just surprised to see that I misspelled it when I, like you described, saw it correctly in my head.

On a different note; I have my relatives staying with me for the holidays, and with six of us in one house no one was up for the idea of cooking this evening, so we ordered out... In a "slap-yourself-in-the-forehead' moment I had an inspiration and grabbed my camera... A little touch of Photoshop and I was able to re-create one of my favorite "scenes" from the Special X series:

http://hometown.aol.com/pohlse/bumhair.jpg

...Now imagine the looks I got when I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures of my dinner. Oh the shock, the scandal! It was really delightful!

After an explanation of what I was doing and why, my uncle's wife became fascinated with what I told her of Slade's books (I had told her before, but nothing gets someone's attention like unexpected behavior). The good news is that there is at least one more reader of Slade's work. The bad news is SHE TOOK MY ORIGINAL COPY OF HEADHUNTER!!!!   She took Swastika too, but it's new and if she loses it I can buy another. But that was the Headhunter cover with the knife cutting through the fabric... I've had it so long that the pages are yellow, and damn it I love that book!

If she loses or damages it I will throttle her!

Anyway, back to the wallpaper; aside from the text on the paper and the sauce, it remains in it photographic state. I tried a few different filters but it looks better as it, I think.

PohlSE: The "bum hair" image is superior, especially with the type on the soy sauce packet. And I agree, that's a great Slade scene. Can't imagine what you'd photograph for a "God's Toilet" wallpaper.

Cheers! MM

Glad you like it! I guess if were to tackle a "God's toilet" image I'd need to flood out a dirty sand box and put tiny footprints near the edge... And maybe a teeny little wheelchair half sunk it in center.

Its one thing to have my relatives think I'm nuts, but if the neighbors see me doing that they'll probably call the police.

The wallpapers are all very striking, however, this has been my favorite one so far.

Piercing blue eyes which adorn my computer's wallpaper have been quite menacing looking during some late dark nights.....freaky deaky

That is one of the things that makes this so much fun; we all are producing different styles so there is always something for everyone. And there are always surprises!

You can thank Photoshop for those eyes, BTW. I don't think humans can have eyes that blue! :)
