To THE GHOULS...

A place for Sladists to share their thoughts on Michael Slade and his work...

Postby steelclaw32 » Sat Oct 04, 2008 4:32 am

I was in boarding school at the horrific age of four years of age, dreab, I was in Cornwall then, then at six years of age dad went to England proper.

We Cornwellian's think we are a separate nation to England, sadly, some hope of that ever happing.!

There I went to England and a place called Bedstone College that's in South Shropshire, by the way.

then in '68 went to the Republic of Ireland with mum, dad and elder brother came a year later, then went to to my first day school a place called Sandford Park School.
The History of Sandford Park School.

Sandford Park School opened its doors to its first School pupils on the 12th of September, 1922. Alfred Le Peton, its first headmaster, had been the joint headmaster with Ernest Exshaw of Earlsfort House School.

The joint headmasters of Earlsfort House had a shared ambition of moving their school from the frenzied atmosphere of a city centre street to the peace of the suburbs. The substantial property of Sandford Park was on the market in the summer of 1922. Originally built for James Pile in 1894, Sandford Park offered an ideal setting for a school. On 8 acres of mature wooded grounds with an ornamental pond and island, sunken tennis court, a mews yard, ballroom complete with a minstrel's gallery and a distinctive house on which great care had been lavished in providing panelled rooms, and ornate ceilings. It was a far cry from the terraced, houses of Earlsfort House School.

There were fifty-three boys on the roll in September 1922. Le Peton also attracted the services of a gifted and enthusiastic group of teachers, two of whom would succeed him as headmaster of the school and thus established a continuity of tradition and style more usually associated with schools managed by religious orders.

Le Peton departed the scene in 1925. His departure was due to illness and strain. Although his time at the school in its new setting was short, he left an indelible mark on the future development of the school. He created the sense of family, which became a hallmark of the Sandford experience. He had no formal qualifications for his role, but he brought to it a passion and commitment that inspired those who worked with him. More than anything else, he had a genuine interest in the education of the young. He believed that education had to embrace the whole person and his regime at the school allowed for the experiences, which would foster this ideal. In the few documents which contain his writings there is a recognition that the young will benefit only by a growing awareness that they must take responsibility for their own lives; and that the role of the educator was to provide the opportunities and the motivation to bring about this desired end. If he believed in independence of spirit and individualism he also believed strongly in a sense of community, often expressed in the catch phrases of “ esprit de corp” and “play the game”.

The school today is a very different school in some respects from the school of Lep in 1922. There are now 200 boys at the school between the ages of twelve and eighteen years. The school now engages the services of twenty-three teachers to provide programmes at junior cycle, Transition Year and senior cycle level for 200 boys in the school. The teaching staff is supported in its work by another ten staff in its administration, catering, maintenance and the Bursar's office. Sandford Park now looks to the future, and its teaching staff have given the lead in developing innovative learning programmes which not only benefit pupils of the school, but have been recognised by the Department of Education and Science as models of good practise and have been promoted in all schools.

Then at sixteen years of age I'd enough edgmecation! me, and went lookin'
for work and until I was givin, whether I liked it or not, early retirement by the Irish Gov, well really can't blame them really, I did have a stroke that nearly finished me off, and it didn't help that some bastard nearly finished the job by knocking me down and some-what crippling me for life.

And that's me...Not much but I'm alive...for now.!
Speaking of Prefect's yes, I was made that, then they hells teeth!!, they only went and made me HEAD-Prefect, in my day the way with dealing with wayward children was the dread cane, I meanwhile used a different method altogether. And I can tell you I never 'punished' the same child again, I was told they'd would have preferred the dread cane to what I did, even the Head was impressed by my "torture" he would.!

What I did was I told the rascal to go to his rooms and strip off and nip into his running clothes, then report back to me, then when a pretty well
'terrified' boy came before me he looked with "horror" what was layin' on the table in front of him, he nearly passed out out, wished he had I'd bet,!

there in front of him was a very, and I MEAN very large roughsack
with holders, and I helped him in on with it, walked him to the halls entrance under the instruction of running twenty laps around the Green.

I had put in the mentioned sack, four very heavy of concrete blocks, rain/hale/snow, it ALWAYS worked for me, 'sides I always thought seeing a boy cryin' unmanly . Like I said NEVER had to punish the same blokes again, in fact dreab, I did it four times, word spread like wildfire, and I was 'given a miss for very bad behaviour' among the lads...I wonder why.! :?

Cheers

Thank you for sharing your memory there. I could imagine, depending on which part of the Irish government, that the stories that could be told..... whilst still under the secrets act..
Did it come flooding back with Slade's visit to Havelock Ellis boarding school i n Ripper.
That torture was brilliant and I can see why you got respect. Me, I think a girls dress would have done just as good. but well done for not using the cane.

Oh I am English as I was born in England, my dad was English my mum was the Irish lass, dad too worked the British Government. Later I followed suite.

And yes.
I could imagine, depending on which part of the Irish government, that the stories that could be told..... whilst still under the secrets act..
I worked in security (not quite James Bond, but not exactly a million miles from it either)

Don't even get me started on OSA (Official Secrets Act) it covers every "sin", and yes I'm, and for the rest of my life, bound by said act from BOTH countries .

Did it come flooding back with Slade's visit to Havelock Ellis boarding school in Ripper.
Well, let's just say I galloped past the "offending" chapter/s as quickly as I could.! Those were memories
I didn't want ANY remindin' off . My days of being boarding school were NOT at all like *Billy Bunter.! Funnily enough though, since my second stroke, that really fecked me up on memory dept. but H E did make me feel a tad bit queasy, as I'm sure you'll appreciate.

That torture was brilliant and I can see why you got respect.
Thank you, I'd no love of the dread cane and certain person/s
and people (that I was aware of) took an unsavoury pleasure in making boys cry and was, in ways, could and I suspect was used as a form of physical abuse with equally sick sexual over/undertones.

Me, I think a girls dress would have done just as good. but well done for not using the cane.

Well, dreab, I think using a girls dress is rather nasty, I punished, and the children knew they were being punished; but what you proposed is humiliation there is a difference. Headmasters/mistress too, in some boarding schools used the cane and embrassed and like I said humiliated
their errant charges.

At least I can die knowing I was fair minded and never embrassed/humiliated any of "my" children.

Fair enough, fine line between punishment, and humiliation
Never went to boarding school, so cannot comment whether it is a good thing, or bad thing.

Did it teach you anything....
Did it make you stronger....
Did you have less of a childhood....

Stephen fry said a good thing, that he knew nothing different, as all his friends went to boarding school.

Me, i went to a comprehensive school, mixed ability, mixed sexes.

We only ever had one mixed rugby tournament, scrums were brilliant, but then the girls dominated us at hockey. We wore shin pads that day i can tell you..

Well dreab there is one.

As addendum dreab, when I was 21, I certainly didn't look it and was a great help to either Governments, and could "infiltrate" (for want of a better word) places where my fellow operatives couldn't, so, I was sent back to boarding school, what I didn't know at the time I wasn't alone...

My fellow operatives were there but for different reasons, and I was kept in the dark...or so my boss thought.

It's a bit difficult when one's trained by her Majesty's gov. and NOT acquire a (for want of a better word) 'new' sixth sense.!

I did feel I was being watched and felt it too, strongly at times, (one way of your fellow wotists tellin' you, but not showing themselves, that they were there).

Anyway to cut a very long and painful (for me it was so, especially my arse.!!) story short, I'd been sent to this school as an "ill disciplined buck who needed taken in hand"..so to speak, imagine this dreab, being actually paid to act the unmitigated Bollex as part of bigger picture...what larks! OUCH my poor bum.!; anyway I along with my unseen 'colleges' brought the school down and I'd great of pleasure of literally caning the Headmaster, and I did just that.!!! much to great merriment to my unseen obs.
That headmaster really was a nasty piece of work, I wont go into details how he caned, either me or the real pupils, but he turnd my
stomach and yes, that form of corporal discipline was permited, sans the sick sexual over/undertones bit, that was, just him, and him alone.

Hard as you may believe dreab, her Majesty's government service did and as far as I know still do have people who don't look their age for delicate situations such as I was employed to do. And I'm not joking either.

Did it teach you anything....
Did it make you stronger....
Did you have less of a childhood....

Ironic choice of wording there dreab, especially on the first two lines.

Yes it did teach me as in: "if you do wrong you'll pay for it one way are another. It also taught right from wrong and punishment was something to be avoided at ALL costs. Sadly lacking now days in both school AND the LAW.

Yes in way the regime in boarding school, painful though at times it was, made me the bloke I am, and of course my parents did as well.

No, far from it in fact, probably grew up before my time, but, no I'd on the whole a wonderful childhood. Next to my mum giving birth to me, she gave me the love reading, my dad gave the love of the classics both music and books. What more could a son ask of his parents.? :D :D

Good old Billy "YAROOOOO!" oh he was a silly bugger wasn't he.?

Here, here dreab's let's here all your naughty escapades then fellow Sladists.! The waters fine...just.!

Damn..... The things we do for Queen and country. Hope you got double money for the pain you went through.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... hools.html

I see no one has has dipped theirs toes yet.
Should we have a seperate topic started for this..

Looking for links to add, it is amazing how many sites there are showing people getting beaten / caned etc.
Probably because they had it, and found something erotic about it.
I have no idea what.
But then as you said, school headmasters have been known to cross the line between punishment and perversion.

And who knows what goes on in the mind of adolescent boys in an all boy environment.

Did you get the customary service medal, or were you given the bums rush

And one final Question, which i know you cannot tell me.
Did you know Stake Knife.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stakeknife

http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics ... ce_Service

So no ASTON MARTIN for you then.

Well,  I did get a somewhat reasonable "compensation" for my ehhm, pains.

Looking for links to add, it is amazing how many sites there are showing people getting beaten / caned etc.

I have no idea what.
Yes, well, it's what I think the French call/ed
"the British disease" now days it has a new meaning, which, apparently, the youngfellamelad's/ettes go in for binge drinking (nothing new THERE then!)

But then as you said, school headmasters have been known to cross the line between punishment and perversion.

And who knows what goes on in the mind of adolescent boys in an all boy environment
Good point, which is what was in a round about way, I was alluding to with
I'd no love of the dread cane and certain person/s and people (that I was aware of) took an unsavoury pleasure in making boys cry and was, in ways, could and I suspect was used as a form of physical abuse with equally sick sexual over/undertones

Sadly, and apparently, some British boys and even girls too, 'got off' on said cane, which is solely the responsibility of the respective perverse sick minded Headmasters/mistress.

And as you rightly say : the young adolescent boys in an all boy environment; and who are just coming to terms, of sorts, with their sexuality, and the sick Headmasters/mistress took advantage of that
and gave their charges a perversion of sex. Damn them to hell.!

And one final Question, which i know you cannot tell me.
Did you know Stake Knife.....

Well ehhhh, I was aware of him yes, and no, I'm definitely not said person!

If you don't mind dreab I'd not say anything, or as little as possible on
:

I did on occasion work for them at the hight our war with the IRA, and did things I'm not at all proud of. Sorry dreab.

Did you get the customary service medal, or were you given the bums rush
  little of both there.!

So no ASTON MARTIN for you then.
Got it one, fair play to you.!

Going back a bit to your link to http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... hools.html it's as perennial as Christmas really either the Guardian or the Telegraph come out with the self same stuff during their "bring Back the Cane brigade are at it.. again!" season.!

Never apologise for what you did. You and many others made a difference. Regardless what, or how you did it
Mentioned Stake knife not because i wanted info from you, cause even i know some things will never come out even after the 30 year freedom of info act.

I mentioned it
1) to highlight that for the Service, people did extraordinary things. Possible enjoyed it, and became 'TOO DEEP'
2) And in case anybody else out their did not know about him....

So enough of this before i get the knock on the door.

Thank you for the insight into your history. I think you have enough for an Auto Biog there.
Would be damn better than some of them out there.

I wonder what the other Sladists think of all this.

Le Vice Anglais

(French for 'the English vice')
Early 20C term for a masochistic interest in flagellation, said with some justification to be a peculiarly English perversion. The most prominent example was *Swinburne. Victorian pornography abounds in scenes of flagellation; and titillating stories in today's tabloid press, of the naughty vicar variety, frequently include spanking. The origin is often said to be the rituals of birching and caning which until recently were characteristic of English *public schools. Certainly it has been a taste associated mainly with the upper classes."

May thanks to you dreab, that means a lot to me and fellow obs. . There were times I too, to be honest, felt like a bloody murderer.! (no better the the "new" IRA)
There were different strands in the IRA one of the "old school" the other
the animal, with all (due respect animals proper) we fought a war on two fronts with the the old version and new kind version of the IRA, we came to of sorts an 'understanding' with the former, but the latter were really wildanimals and HAD to be put down. Regrettable lives on BOTH sides were taken (both RC and Protestant, of either persuasions) and I somewhere was responsible for their loss, me and my other obs, but it was a war that had to be contained (badly at times too be honest) The Republic didhelp with quite a lot of difficulty on their part, it must be said, and acknowledged, and and greatly appreciated it was too) Those in the Republic Of Ireland were truly sickened by what was done in their name for a long dead cause as they they knew, but
sadly we Brits weren't TOLD of how the real Irish truly felt, and we Brits treated the Irish living in old Blighty as scum, the British press saw to that.! Ask Terry Wogan on said. (not joking' either on that score either).!

Mentioned Stake... I mentioned it
1) to highlight that for the Service, people did extraordinary things. Possible enjoyed it, and became 'TOO DEEP' 2) And in case anybody else out their did not know about him....

Some did the former part of your bit, and were seen very strongly by doctors, as been 'lost it' and they had. sadly.

2) And in case anybody else out their did not know about him....
acknowledged THAT already dreab.!

Thank you for the insight into your history. I think you have enough for an Auto Biog there.

Probably said too much, noticed a deafening silence from Slade though, I must be the only real life killer on the site and authorised one too, and he said bog all, and he said he met killer's, meeeh not so, not my kind he's not, and the bleedin' bugger has actually met me too.!! Well, he is a damned lawyer what does one expect eh.!!!?

I am sure Slade is about on this one, waiting, gathering info,

I remember seeing the Irish bars all over the world, on tv, having whip rounds for the boys back home.
Me personally, as you said, the wild ones have gone now, but the IRA, still exists.
There money comes from the old mafia stalwarts of extortion, protection of shops.

Found this while meandering through the web, slightly distorted in some respects, but still a good back ground for anybody...

The fear we had was genuine, not knowing where they would strike next.

Wonder which view point this was written from...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static ... ional_ira/

As per usual the BBC is very thorough.

And then we have recent events.
I am working at Edgware road as a tube driver, so i know and saw what happened on 7 / 7.

Making the sign of a cross my arse.
Lets hit two major junctions to paralyse the city more like.
If that last one had gone off on the northern line then it would have probably been under the thames, and goodbye underground if that tube splits.

Well the pubs in most of Dublin weren't, there were the odd one here and there, but the majority wanted to just get on with life just like every one else.

CP in the British school system must have been a rather nasty piece of work, and I can't help wondering if it isn't the reason behind the preponderance of UK based spanking fetish sites on the internet. I wouldn't be surprised if the repeated meting out of CP at a critical point in a person's development could hardwire a desire for it in a person's psyche.

As much as I've tried to understand how someone could have a desire to spank, or be spanked, I'm just unable to figure it out. I guess you must have to have the desire in order to be able to thoroughly understand the desire for it.

We did have CP in the school system here when I was in elementary school, but I can't recall ever hearing about it actually being carried out on a student. I can only guess the infraction must have had to be quite severe for it to be considered warranted.

I can't help wondering if this might have frustrated my 5th grade teacher - causing him to focus that frustration on one particular student. This teacher was originally from England and seemed to have some kind of grudge against this Czechoslovakian kid in our class. When the kid couldn't answer a question, Mr. S. would stand behind his desk and repeatedly jam the tip of a well sharpened pencil into the top of the kid's head.

Looking back on it, the SOB should have been reported for abuse. I mean, the kid may not have been the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but he wasn't alone in that classification.

You'd actually have thought the guy was from Germany and not England, as he'd march up and down the hallway, throwing his feet in front of him, and clicking his heels together in that Nazi SS style of marching.

There seems to be a hell of a lot in the states as well. Spanking Schools where you can go and get S, what ever the interest
spanked, or caned, or anything else, and pay for it, and get it recorded to a website.

Japan, the kink capital of the world, ANIME anyone..., has a large number.

Where ever there is an interest,or a fetish, there will be a website.

http://www.mopedboy.com/

http://sploshagirl.com/contact.html

All i am saying that it is world wide. So it is not just an English fetish (le vice anglais). You are right in wondering what the fascination is...

Will try and find a forum that will answer the question.
And spread the word of Slade.
