do we need more superheros?

We can complain about the re-telling of superhero stories, but if the ones that have already been made are bad to terrible to begin with then there already is a reason to go back and do them again. Especially if those said heroes are popular.

I'm doubtful that Superman can be at the centerpiece of a strong film to begin with, but I'll try to see the new film with an open mind.

At the end of the day the trailers for The Evil Dead and Pacific Rim have me very excited for two films next year so anything beyond that is gravy.

A fun way to tell a Superman story might be to tell it from the villain's perspective.

Parasite for example; Have the origin story, the degeneration of his personality, the slow ramping up of his crimes and then, halfway into the movie he draws the attention of Superman, drains his powers, gets bigger and bolder in his villainy and is finally defeated at the end by a trap laid by Supes who regains his powers.

It would end with Parasite in Striker's Island prison and getting a visit from Amanda Waller trying to recruit him for the Suicide Squad.

No Clark Kent, no Smallville, no Fortress of Solitude.

What is this Parasite of which you talk? Don't you know that Superman only has two enemies, Lex Luthor and Zod???

So thinks Hollywood.....

Parasite did make a television appearance; Rudy Jones.

But that was Canada, not Hollywood. So your point still stands.

That might be a fun way to breath some life into the Superhero genre' all the way around; Villians. Let them be the focus and have the heroes just show up and try to thwart them.

Plus it would allow us to make use of the under utilized word "thwart."

The Canadian Mint is issuing limited edition collector coins, based on vintage Superman comic covers.

The first two coins are awesome! The other two coins aren't Superman.

I'm not familiar enough with comic books to know what is, and is not, a cover. But yeah, I do like the first two better than the other two.

We've got the militarization of the police, and police taking it upon themselves to act as judge, jury, and executioner these days. The world is getting to seem more and more like the world depicted in the Judge Dredd comic books. And now Brutalism, the architecture of Judge Dredd's world seem to be gaining an upswing in popularity.

See, it took some time but someone finally figured it out:

The Suicide Squad

Villains are the way to go!

Although Batman V Superman looks pretty damn good, too.
