Holy moly Batman! That's 49 remakes too many! I am kind of curious about "the Phantom Tollbooth". :)

Well ... it would seem that in the process of rewriting the two-film ALIEN prequel Ridley Scott was primed to direct, the film has morphed into something that, although influenced by the ALIEN mythos, has nothing to do with the franchise. I wonder if Scott will kickstart a whole new franchise with his PROMETHEUS?

http://www.thehdroom.com/news/Alien-Pre ... theus/8194

You know, this doesn't exactly surprise me - as a matter of fact, I'd actually suspected that something along these lines was probably going to happen, considering all that was going on with the prequel.

It's sort of like when, after he'd spent months and months working on a film called TRIPOLI - even going so far as to scouting filming sites, and having models made of the sets he was going to use - all of a sudden deciding he wanted to make a Crusades film, and turning around and making KINGDOM OF HEAVEN instead.

And, apparently Ridley Scott is also working on a film adaptation of Justin Cronin's book, THE PASSAGE, although it's not listed on his IMDb webpage yet.

I became more excited about Prometheus after hearing it wasn't really a prequel.

Ridley Scott is capable of making great films if he wants to.

Just found out Hollywood is making a remake/prequel to John Carpenter's " THE THING."

Supposedly this takes place just before the John Carpenter version.

What's interesting is that Carpenter's version is also a remake of a 1950's movie by the same name.

Yes, I know most remakes are terrible, but this one actually may have potential.

In my opinion, though, nothing can top Carpenter's version. One of the best horror movies around. That scene with the dogs in the cage....* shivers*

I enjoyed the original and a remake doesn't seem like a bad idea. I'm no fan of Colin Ferrell's, but he seems right for the role.

The trailer, though, left me with little to say. I suppose I have no feelings on it one way or the other.

Looks like someone took a camera into the theatre and filmed the teaser-trailer for Fincher's version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

Seems that Michael Bay has remade parts of THE ISLAND, into TRANSFORMERS 3:

I guess that does pretty much confirm his place in the 'hack' category.

The Thing (2011) shares the name of the Carpenter remake from the 80's, but is actually a prequel to that film.

http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/the-thing/trailer

I'd say that it looks pretty promising, myself.
