Need some opinions on these symbols

Postby Mbwun » Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:17 pm

I'm curious as to what some of you here might think these symbols that used to festoon the spires on Chateau Nottebohm might be. Here are some blow-ups of a couple of postcards that were made of the place way back in its heyday - one of which I posted elsewhere here:

As you can see, pretty much every little peak on the place had some kind of decorative spire on it. The main spire has almost a flag-like thing on it, as does the conical peak at the back of the house.

The spire atop the left hand peak in the front of the house seems to have a crescent shape on it. The spire atop the right hand peak has a sun-like thing on it - as do the smaller spires atop the peaks of the dormer windows in front, and the main peak at the one side of the house.

And this is attached to the front of the house:

And this crest that indicates the year of the house's completion is just down the left side of the house:

I'm thinking they may be Masonic symbols.

What think you?

Château de M'Nottebohm aka Château Cheval
Trying to hunt, but a lot of Masonic stuff connected to the name

Thanks for trying.

I have seen that page, and have copied the pics to my file - along with pretty much every other picture I've found online of the place. You should check out my Facebook page DT - the inside is a total wreck. It had nice tile work though.

It's filed online under quite a few different names:

Hof van N.
Hof van Notenboom
Hof Nottebohm
Chateau N.
Chateau Notenboom
Chateau Neuteboom
Chateau Cheval
Chateau Adams - this I figure is paying homage to THE ADDAMS FAMILY, due to the spooky creepy nature of what the house looks like now.

But, it's obvious the correct name for the house is Chateau de Meer (or Mr) Nottebohm.

I have seen sun-like and crescent-like symbols when doing image searches for Masonic symbols. Just trying to get as much feedback as I can here.

Sure wish I could find some information on this place:

Like, for instance, if it still even exists. Cannot find anything on the internet, other than various postcards for sale on the same website I found this image on.

It almost looks as if it could have been designed by the same architect who designed Chateau Nottebohm.
