Neat Stuff!

Postby Mbwun » Mon May 29, 2006 5:01 pm

My "Nifty" thread seems to have disappeared so I guess I'll have to start a new one for these little fun tidbits.

Here's a link that shows you how to make some neat things - origami style - out of paper currency:

The spider is really cool! And as an eyeglass wearer, I'm a bit partial to the specs too!!!

(I like his story about leaving one of the spiders as a tip in a restaurant.)

I must admit.... I was expecting a blank canvas, and for 13 little fuzzy yellow chicks to come strolling by

What is that tune?

That tune would be Chopsticks, EZ. It's one of those little ditties that you can play around with and embellish it any way you see fit. I've had lots of fun over the years playing around with it on the piano and seeing what fancifications I can come up with.

I guess this qualifies as neat stuff:

http://www.ghoststudy.com/monthly/may01/videoghost.html

I don't know if it's real or not but it looks cool.

This is NOT one of the stupid videos where someone jumps up and screams.

Okay, prior to looking at it (I will check it out momentarily...), is this one of those things, where you tell us what it's NOT, in order to get us to click on it, and have it be exactly what we thought it would be? Reverse psychology at it's best?

Edited to add: The computer I am on does not not what a .ram file is and I am unable to view the file.

It's definately NOT one of those "thing pops out of the screen at you" files, krista in ma. It's a rather eerie piece of surveillance camera footage.

It sure looks like a ghostly apparition, but it could just be someone having a go at us - the footage is rather out of focus. It's definately creepy though.

Nice find PohlSE! :D

I hate those jump and scream videos. I will never post a link to one, you have my word.

That's a "RealPlayer" file. You can DL it here http://www.real.com/ if you want it. Otherwise let me give a quick description; it's a security cam shot of an underground parking garage and about half way through a transparent, human shaped shadow glides from behind a pillar and into a stairwell.

Real or fake it is a creepy piece of footage.

Sometimes subtle can be more frightening than a shocker though. Look at how incredibly scary the film Alien continues to be after all these years. I still think it's the most frightening film ever made.

Now you wanne see a concoction that's the stuff of nightmares?

Look at this guy:

That is a cool table!

However...with the obvious "retro" look stretching back centuries, it would be really cool to have the original names on which the symbols are based.

For example: Sodium = Natrium, hence "Na"

On Plubnum, on Aurum, and onward Hydrargyrum!
