As i said a couple of pages ago, i am flying into vancouver, then going to Pacific Coach terminal....
price has gone up but coach international airport to ferry port.. boat to victoria ferry port, the coach to down town victoria..
cost has gone up to 40 canadian for the whole nearly 4 hour trip.
but it does take in victoria airport...

cannot pre book, which i hate... i liketo know my schedule before i depart...
i micro manage to the detriment of my health sometimes..

yeah ... but I got lucky once with my drivers license and I got a good picture and they let me use reuse it every however many years ...
I was hopeful.

So ... can we register at the door or do we need to do that in advance? I did note something about a banquet ... there were food options: meat, fish and vegetarian.
Vegetarian is out because, no offense to any of you who are vegetarians, but they eat weird stuff like soy ... and tofu ... =|
What are the meat and fish options? Do you know? Or should I just bring my own food?

Yeah, what is the policy for buying tickets on the door..

All british passport pictures make you look like very bad villains in cheap gangster films.
The ones that go straight past dvd, and onto the bargain shelves.

How come you never look like a Bond villain in your passports.

So do we have a head count for whos coming, or am i being premature again.

You're way ahead of yourselves. BLOODY WORDS isn't until next summer. Between now and then, there will be progress reports that answer various questions. Patience is required. I've been to countless conventions, and they happen at their own pace.

BW will not be a thundering herd. We're in the middle of the worst economic turndown since the Great Depression, and that - as with all conventions - will affect attendance.

Also, BW is an Eastern event, firmly rooted in Toronto. This is the first time it's been held thousands of miles away from its base. The last time they tried, it was canceled.

At the moment, here's the best advice I can give you. Go to the convention. Because Slade is Guest of Honor, the con is my first concern. What they want, I do. So if you're not at BLOODY WORDS, you're separated from Slade.

This is a Mystery convention, not a Horror convention, so it will be very different from HorrorFind, the last meeting of the Ghouls. The Ghouls went to con events in mix-and-match combinations. When there was a Slade event - Poe's Grave or gathering in the bar - they peeled away for it.

Some hints:

You're coming to totem country. So learn how to read a totem (PRIMAL SCREAM/SHRINK). A trip to the provincial totem museum is a must.

The Gulf and San Juan Islands - the home of Mephisto in BURNT BONES and DEATH'S DOOR, plus the Severed Feet Case - are a boat trip away.

Hatley Park and Craigdarroch Castle - Castle Crag in RIPPER - are both in Victoria.

Bottom line: relax. It will all work out. At this stage, know how you're getting here, and think about where you'll stay. (The con's in the tourist season, so that can't be last minute.) Staying at the con, or close to the con is a must. Day passes will undoubtedly be available, or - depending on your interests - the Full Monty.
