Special "X" Wallpaper

Okay, I'll tell y'all up front, I CANNOT create anything like this. BUT, I bet someone in the group can.

On TV, we always see computers with the organizational logo used as wallpaper; the FBI, CTU on 24, even the fictional Montecito in Las Vegas has a logo wallpaper.

So....the question is, what would computer wallpaper/background for Special "X" look like? And, of course, if anyone could create/design it and post it, I think most members would be grateful.

Ok, I was playing around with an idea and I made this mock-up:

A word of warning though, it is large and may take up to a full minute to come up depending on your connection speed.

All the alignments I just eye-balled for now, I wanted some feedback before I started polishing it.

Also, the font is just Times New Roman, if anyone has a suggestion for different fonts, different alignments, overall changes, or what-have-you just let me know.

Very nice work. I like all the medallions and lil textures you've added here. It will be interesting to see what others come up with. This is certainly a nice balance of all of his works. I'd be interested to see what unique exerts from books people can capture image wise.

I guess my idea, if it's cool with Slade since it would involve a picture of him, is to have 1 'busy' wallpaper and 1 'simple' one. The 'busy' one is able to express every aspect of Slade's work while the 'simple' one is just that. Simple.

I switch back and forth between busy and simple wallpapers all the time.

That is a good idea. Like you said I would want Slade's permission before I used any images of him... And I'd want Eric's ok too, since I would be pulling the images from here.

If everyone agreed, what I'd like to try is putting a photo of Jay and Rebecca on either side of a large type "Michael Slade," a transparent large type "Special X" beneath that, and then small images of the books running along the bottom. All on top of that cool marbleized red and black background from the main page.

That tag line takes on even more meaning now that I have realized how unfortunately I placed the Swastika book. I never even thought about the phallic implications when I put it there, it had to be pointed out to me.

BEAUTIFUL! The perfect wallpaper for the Slade fan. However, and by NO means am I dissing your work, what I was thinking of was something we'd find, say, on DeClercq's office machine.

In DEATH'S DOOR, when Rusty Lewis gave his lecture on Sex Crimes (I'm travelling, so I don't have access to my library), MS mentions the logo of a skull with a shark's tail coming out of one eye while the shark's head comes out of the other, with the RCMP crest and another crest I cannot recall. Don't remember all the details.

Think of it this way: Special X is *REAL* (for purposes of this discussion). What would be used on the actual computers in the offices on Heather Street?

BUT....if I may, I've already switched my wallpaper this morning. All you Special X's in training, see if you can guess what I'm using now? (grin)

Nice work! But if you look at other wallpapers, you'll notice that less (elements) is better. Usually, on a wallpaper, you'll get 3 or 4 elements, max.: title, picture, some texture if needed, and the rest is space to place the icons of the desktop.

Your wallpaper is beautiful, but I think I'd lose my icons in it.

Let's go for version 2...

You are absolutely right; that one is very busy. I was playing with it in photoshop and found myself losing my pallets! I'm going to trim off some of the extras, and re-arrange the books so they look like a border. I'll post that version in a bit. BTW, thank you for letting me use that awsome background!

I have mixed feeling about the hand with the razor. I feel that that area is too empty without it, but it looks a little out of place the way it is. Maybe the razor without the hand... Any ideas?

I bet a "real special x" wallpaper would be similar to other law enforcement agencies. So maybe some of the Sladists here who are involved in law enforcement can give some advice here.

Would it be alright if I use your and Rebecca's images in one of these wallpapers? I'll use the one's Eric has online here, but I want to make sure you're ok with it too before I post them.
