HEADHUNTER is ready for filming. Patrick Lussier will direct. He directed MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D, and is Wes Craven's longtime editor. The screenplay is by Wil Zmak, winner of the 2006 Writers Guild of Canada Best Feature Screenplay Award for THE DARK HOURS. Weather plays a major part in the story, so the film requires a fall-winter shoot.
FEARnet: Do you have a "dream project" you would like to direct? Lussier: Years ago, I read Michael Slade's book, HEADHUNTER. It's a brutal murder mystery that takes place in three different time periods, all centered around the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Coming from Canada, that is a big thing - my grandfather was a Mountie. It's a project I'd love to do.

Constable Herbert "Dickie" Childerstone, Lussier's grandfather, painted by his great-grandfather before WWII
Alice Cooper interview, THE GEORGIA STRAIGHT, October 13, 2005: HEADHUNTER was really good. I mean, it was before CSI; the whole forensic thing about the psycho killer, that's what made it so gripping. It was just so strong and scary. I kept sayin', "How come this isn't a movie?"
